Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working with NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell began her career working as a TV and radio reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), which was based in Washington DC. Within two years she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. She started covering the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office by 1988. She was made the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV program Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell was a part of a panel discussion at the 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her work in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to report on White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure as president between 1981 and 1988. Mitchell covered a wide range of important stories including the Iran-Contra scandal, budget tax reforms as well as arms control. She traveled with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan on numerous occasions to attend summits and discuss topics including and the Iran Contra scandal.
